Drs. Wayne and Darlene McCown will be with us to share about their work in Africa. Wayne (alongside his wife Darlene) is significantly involved in the development of Hope Africa University in Bajumbura, Burundi. He serves as Vice President of the Friends of Hope Africa University board, and is the designated Academic Coordinator for Visiting Faculty and Staff. During each of the past three years, he and Darlene have spent 1-2 months at Hope Africa University; they plan to return in the fall of 2010 for a more extended time (3-4 months). On-site, Wayne teaches in the M.A. in Theological Studies program.
Darlene is a member of the New York State Board for Nursing and has served as president for two terms. Currently she is serving as the Director of the Nursing Program at Hope Africa University in Bujumbura, Africa.
Adult Bible Teacher
Dr. Wayne McCown
Dr. Wayne McCown has served as an ordained minister in the Free Methodist Church since 1964. Though still actively engaged in ministry, he officially "retired" in 2008 as the Vice President and Founding Dean of Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College.
Currently, Wayne is giving leadership to Lighthouse Christian Camp as Board Chair and President. Wayne was born in California, the eldest of 10 children. He and Darlene have been married 48 years.
College & Careers Teacher
Rev. Dr. Brian Armen
Brian is a Lutheran minister in PA. He will be teaching our College and Career class for young adults. The course will be called "Ten Highly Regarded Recommendations for Daily Living." Look for young adult activities announced at camp. Brian and his wife Lori have two sons, Jonathan and Stephen.
Teen Leaders
Rob and Megan Hoose
Rob and Megan are returning to join forces with Pastor Randy for another adventurous year of Cattaraugus teen programming. Pastor Megan is an ordained elder in the Free Methodist Church and works as a hospital chaplain at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Rob is a Rochester City art teacher and freelance illustrator that has been working in a variety of youth ministries for over twenty years (not counting the time he was actually an officer in his youth group).
The Hoose family would not be complete without its cutest member. Jessup will be almost two when he gets to camp this year and he can't wait to run, jump, dance, twirl and fall off things all over the campground.
Rev. Randy LeBaron
Randy lives in Albion, NY with his wife Sheryl and his four children Ashlyn, Brendan, Madison and Jillian. He has served here at camp in several different capacities over the past 13 years as a Planning Committee Member, Family Chapel Speaker, Adult Bible Teacher, and his current role as Youth Pastor. He will also be joining us next year as the Camp Evangelist. Currently Pastor Randy is the senior pastor at the Albion Free Methodist Church and is pursuing his Doctorate of Ministry degree at Northeastern Seminary. As his final year with the youth he is excited to co-lead with his good friend Rob Hoose and looks forward to seeing how God will show up as they spend time seeking Him with the teens this summer.
Children's Leaders
Karl and Laura Sisson
Karl and Laura will serve as first-time leaders for this year's Children's Program. They have three energetic boys, Carter, Zachary and Isaiah. Karl and Laura live in Gerry and are active in the life and ministry of the Gerry Free Methodist Church. Karl is the Director of Development for WCA Hospital in Jamestown.
