Staff

Evangelist: Nick Engle

Nick committed his life to Jesus as a teenager and accepted a call into ministry. While pursuing his BA in ministry and theology at Southern Nazarene University, Nick met his wife, Rebekah, in a student-led, traveling evangelist group called “The Messengers.” They literally met doing ministry together and have not stopped since. On May 25, 2006 their son, Malachi, was born. All three of them share a passion to reach people for Jesus and to show them His love for them. Nick graduated from SNU in 2005 and was ordained as an elder in the Nazarene Church five years later. In the years that he has been ministering, he has made it his goal to pour out as much love as he can to everyone that he comes into contact with. Nick now serves as the Pastor of Group Life and Adult Ministries at Fairview Village Church outside of Philadelphia.

Bible Teacher: Troy Bassett

Troy is the lead pastor of Grace Ridge Church in Williamson, NY. He previously served as an Associate Pastor at Northgate Free Methodist Church, as Senior Pastor at South Dayton Free Methodist Church, and planted FreeChurch.net in Rochester, NY. Troy has a passion for teaching the Bible creatively, starting new ministries, empowering leaders, and building teams. He is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College and received a Master of Divinity at Northeastern Seminary. He and his wife Diane met at Roberts Wesleyan College and have five children; Troy grew up attending Cattaraugus Camp and has many fond memories of his time on the grounds.

Missionaries: Glenn and Wendy Lorenz

The Lorenz family lives just outside the capital city of San José, Costa Rica. Glenn and Wendy served the Latin America Area for several years. In 2022 Glenn became the assistant area director of Africa. His primary responsibility is recruiting, onboarding, training and coaching a team of long-term residential missionaries for West Africa. Wendy works with missionary children and families. She also leads a global Third Culture Kids (TCK) team, providing our FMWM missionary parents with encouragement and resources. She believes missionaries can focus more intensely on the ministry work when they sense their family is doing well. Wendy’s ministry helps missionary parents navigate some of the uniqueness of their child’s experience as a TCK.

Music Leader: Dave & Alicia Roland

Dave serves as the worship leader at Grace Ridge Church in Williamson, NY, where he leads with guitar and vocals. He also heads up the youth group and has a knack for all things audio. When he’s not serving at church, you’ll find him perfecting his lawn, firing up the grill, or tinkering in the garage.

Alicia is an occupational therapist specializing in vision therapy in Canandaigua, NY, and teaches as an adjunct professor at Keuka College. She’s also a full-time mom (because that’s a whole job in itself!), and loves to cook, bake, and garden. Alicia sings on the worship team and helps out with the teen ministry as well.

Gabe (heading into 3rd grade) and Eli (starting 1st grade) are all about vehicles, trampoline parks, video games, and CAMP!

We’re so thankful to be back again this year and excited to worship with you all!

Young Adult Leader: Rob Hoose

Rob Hoose has been coming to Cattaraugus Family camp since 2005 when his wife Reverend Megan Hoose lead teens with Pastor Randy Lebaron. Since that first camp Megan and Rob have added to teens of their own (Jessup 15 and Aaron 13) that have been going to camp their entire lives (Aaron started at just a few weeks old). This year Rob is leading the young adult bible study exploring the book of Job and the gospels. He is looking forward to another great year of camp.

Teen Leaders: Will Sutton

Hey camp family, I’m Will Sutton. I’ve been attending camp since I was born. This will be my 5th year doing teens (that doesn’t seem real). I work at the Huron Area Technical Center in Bad Axe, Michigan as a Student Supervisor. I’ve been on the path of working with teens for quite some time now. It’s definitely been what God called me to do, and he keeps me on that path even when I find it difficult. I love working with the teens and helping establish a good foundation for their relationships with God. Let’s have another amazing camp week.

Teen Leaders: Robby Sutton

Robby will be co-leading the teens with his older brother, Will, again this year as the Bible teacher. After teaching in the school system for two years, Robby has returned to his own education by pursuing a MA in Classical Education with Hillsdale College and has just completed his first year of the program. He currently works for the Hillsdale K-12 Education Office, where he has done extensive work in the research and organization of a textbook of Western History. During camp, he is looking forward to discussing theology, playing some tabletop games, and participating in pickup sports, especially Ultimate Frisbee. Grace of God the Father and the peace which comes through Jesus Christ to all the Catt Camp family.

Children’s Leaders: Karl & Laura Sisson

Laura and Karl Sisson are excited to lead our children’s program for the 14th year. They consider it pure joy to provide a fun-filled learning experience each morning that includes music and singing, relatable Bible stories, hands-on crafts and activities, snacks, and recreation. This year’s theme is Stellar where the children will discover how they can shine Jesus’ love and hope in their everyday lives. The Sisson family lives in nearby Houghton, NY where Karl serves in leadership at Houghton University and Laura teaches at nearby Fillmore Central School. They thoroughly enjoy spending time with their family and watching their four active children (Carter, Zach, Isaiah & Lily) participate in a variety of college and high school pursuits.

Nursery: Courtney Krupa-Hiller

Courtney may not have grown up coming to camp in Cattaraugus but she is no stranger to camp life! Courtney was born and raised in the Nazarene church (the sister denomination to First Methodism) and spent every summer of her life either attending or working at her Christian camp up in the Hudson Valley. First invited to camp by Chris O’Brien (the same summer she started dating her now husband Adam) who would’ve thought that Camp Catt would become such a special place for her! After spending over a decade in early childhood education both within churches, schools and nannying privately for families Courtney is thrilled to be using her skills and knowledge of early childhood development to help create a space at camp that parents not only feel safe bringing their littles to but that their littles love to come to! She’s so grateful for God’s hand guiding her to this exact place in time and for getting to be the first touch point for these kids who will grow up here at camp knowing and learning about the love of God.
